The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi (PAS New Delhi) is seeking proposals for a project entitled “Gender Equity: Women’s Equality, Empowerment and Leadership through Safe Higher Educational and Work Spaces” which aims to empower women through the creation of robust gender sensitive practices in HEIs by increasing their negotiation abilities and connecting them to networks of American and Indian educators and activists engaged in creating safe work spaces for women.
Program Goals
- Advance and promote women’s safety and empowerment by bringing together educators and activists to create a plan for safe workspaces for women.
- Strengthen people-to-people ties between the United States and India through exchange of information, experiences and expertise.

Seeking Proposals for Global Literacy & Accessibility Challenge Grants
· Novel, scalable methods on assessing individual or population literacy levels.
· Understanding the experiences and challenges associated with literacy issues, eg learning disabilities or barriers due to English as a second language.
· Understanding the social, structural, and technology issues that prevent people from improving literacy skills.
· Understanding the impact of literacy skills on individuals and society.
· Digital, social technologies used to improve literacy level, especially, closing the gender gap in literacy rate.
· Design and development of technologies to elevate the literacy barrier, preferably with a focus on social and AI technologies.
